Maintenance Guide

To ensure impeccable hygiene and extend the lifespan of your comfort accessory, here are our detailed care recommendations.

Before first use

Before first use, sterilize your breast shields using steam, an electric sterilizer, a microwave steam bag, or simmering water in a saucepan for 5 minutes.

If using a saucepan, ensure they do not directly touch the bottom to prevent deformation.

Allow to air dry before use.

After each draw

Option 1 - Refrigerator method
Place your breast shields directly in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator between pumping sessions - without rinsing them. This is the most practical method for EBF mothers who pump multiple times a day or at work when a refrigerator is available. A full wash is still necessary at least once a day.

Option 2 - Wash after each pumping session
Wash in hot water with a mild, neutral, fragrance-free dish soap. Use your hands or a soft-bristled brush - avoid abrasive sponges that can scratch the silicone. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

Sterilization in current use

For frequent pumping sessions within a 24-hour period: You can place your breast shields (without rinsing them) in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This method is a temporary solution. A complete cleaning with soap and hot water is still mandatory at least once every 24 hours.

What we avoid

Chemistry

No bleach, no solvents, no essential oils, no surface disinfectant spray, these products damage the silicone and can leave residues when in contact with milk.

Heating

No dry microwave, no oven, no thick fiber cloths that snag the silicone.

Deployment tip

Remember to check your breast shields from time to time.

Replace them if you observe:
- A visible crack or tear on the flange or tunnel.
- Silicone that has become persistently sticky or cloudy despite washing.
- A noticeable loss of flexibility that prevents good adherence to the breast.

Silicone naturally softens with use, which is normal and often improves comfort during application. This is not a sign of wear in itself. It is only a sign of wear if it is accompanied by the symptoms listed above.
